About me
I love wood, engineering, architecture and attention to detail. It is these qualities that inspire and inform my work. Whether it is the Krenovian ideal of seeking to find and reveal the essence of the wood or the more contrived Deco approach, I find the process of taking a solid piece of beautiful timber and transmuting it into something useful and appealing a wonderful journey of exploration.
My ultimate purpose is to create something that my clients will also love and enjoy possessing for many years.
My Sienna table (see top picture in the Mini Gallery to the right) has have been awarded a Bespoke Design Guild Mark which recognises the best of craftsman made furniture by furniture designers who work to commission. The Mark establishes provenance for the winning piece and adds value for future generations.
For those who are interested, I trained at Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire, Rosewood College in Canada and have studied with David Charlesworth in North Devon. Currently I work in the studio of Martin Grierson in London.
In a previous life I was a founder/ keyboard player with the band Fischer-Z, a noisy yet tuneful outfit who had no small measure of success in the '80's (see the Links page for more information).
